Petroleum  

   Petroleum is an inflammable mixture of oily hydrocarbons with very complex properties  .Three grades of card oil  are paraffin base oil ,naphthemic base oil Asphalt Base oil.

   The name petroleum is derived from latin word 'petra' means 'Rock 'and 'Oleum ' means 'oil '.petroleum is formed due to decomposition of micro-organisms which got buried under the sea over millions of years ago .Dead marine micro-organisms got buried under sand  and the effects of pressure ,heat and bacteria got them convert into oily liquids .The decomposition took place in the  absence of air of oxygen.

   petroleum wells are generally found under the sea surface .petroleum wells occur between layers on non porous impervious rocks 50% of Reserve of the Mineral oil are found in 4 middle.East countries Saudi Arabia ,Kuwait Iran and Iraq .
